At the April 4-7 International Security Conference (ISC) & Exposition in Las Vegas, many security manufacturers released new versions of their software.

Why might this matter to you?

Each year at the conference, manufacturers of security and building automation systems unveil their latest software upgrades. In other words, your systems may now be out of date.

“These upgrades typically offer significant advantages,” says Jesse Crawford, Director of Technology Business Development with Baker Group. “First, they add new capabilities and features. Second, they fix bugs that were in previous versions, so fewer things can go wrong.” 

Crawford says security manufacturers often stop supporting older models of locks, cameras and other products when they release new software. “Not being up to date can make getting needed repairs much more difficult,” he says.
