This year our 2021 United Way campaign was held from September 21^st - September 24. After the impact of COVID in 2020, our efforts this year felt more important than ever. 

Our goals for 2021 were centered around the areas of education, health, and income for Central Iowans. The pandemic greatly affected Iowans in all these areas and our efforts were more important than ever. The goals of United Way were to increase the percentage of central Iowa students who graduate from high school to 95%, increase central Iowa’s Gallup National Health and Well-Being Index score to 64.5 and increase the percentage of central Iowans who are financially self-sufficient to 75%.  

This year we held several fundraising activities including a Squares Board for the Iowa vs. Iowa State game, some amazing raffle baskets with items donated by our vendors and a pie in the face contest where employees nominated their coworkers and then the contestants with the most money in their box at the end of the week were pied! We also held a lunch and learn with a board of United Way representatives from Iowa Jobs for America’s Graduates and from United Way of Central Iowa.

Our 2021 United Way campaign raised $46,709.89 which exceeded our total raised last year. Thank you to all our vendors that donated to our Raffle Baskets, participants in the Pie in The Face Fundraiser and all Baker Group employees who contributed to our fundraising goal.
