Baker Group was chosen as the Mechanical and Sheet Metal contractor for the Grinnell College Noyce Science Center. The design of this project started in 2004, and construction was completed in the spring of 2008. The project includes 48,000 square feet of renovation of existing facilities for the enlarged science library, and 112,500 square feet of new addition for each of Grinnell College’s science departments. The project is designed to comply with a Gold Certification Level according to the U. S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System.
Baker Group supplied the Noyce Center with substantially larger HVAC systems for their state-of-the-art teaching spaces and teaching laboratories and support spaces for all of Grinnell’s science divisions. The new and renovated research laboratories are for anatomy, plant biology, molecular genetics, microbiology, physiology, chemistry, computer science, laser and modern physics, and psychology.
