Construction on the new VA Extended Care Building began the fall of 2007. The three story, 118 bed facility is used to fill the need for quality health care for our veterans. Baker Group installed complete mechanical systems including controls and medical gas systems. The HVAC system is VAV with hot water reheat, while the steam and chilled water are supplied from the power plant.

This facility includes three building wings each with a dedicated AHU with steam coils and steam humidifiers. The medical gas system consists of oxygen, medical air, and medical vacuum supplied to each bed. Baker Group supplied the building with Class “A” buried 110 psig steam line in which every weld is 100% Radiographic welded. Additionally, the building’s equipment is supplied with 30 psig steam.

Baker Group has been providing the security, CCTV and Duress Button system for Veterans Administration since 1998. Baker Group uses the enterprise level Hirsch Electronics system with Vicon CCTV and Pelco DVR’s. Baker Group has interfaced into their Police Dispatch Telephone system to ensure that the Duress Buttons work to the Police Radios. Currently, Baker Group is working on the VA Extended Care Facility addition and several retrofit opportunities. In addition, Baker Group is adding FIPS-201 compliant readers at the project to ensure that the VA’s system is compliant to new government regulation. Baker Group is working extensively with the VA’s Pharmacy department to keep up with all of their security regulations.
