Kemin Industries. Baker Group’s installation of piping and equipment in two new pilot laboratories is nearing completion. These highly specialized systems enable Kemin to test nutritional ingredients and formulas on a small scale before moving to full-scale production facilities. Over the past several years, Baker Group has served Kemin on a variety of projects, including modifying, improving and adding new process lines to its full-scale processing operations.

Agri-Industrial Plastics Company. Wrapping up this month is an expansion and complete remodel of office space for Agri-Industrial Plastics, a custom industrial blow molder in Fairfield, Iowa. Baker Group provided design-build remodeling services for electrical, data and HVAC systems, including new duct work throughout most of the office. By sitting down and getting to know our client and their needs, Baker Group was able to identify and offer Agri-Industrial Plastics multiple solutions to improve comfort while staying within the construction budget. To maximize cost efficiencies, Baker Group identified and preserved existing motor controls that could accommodate the new office electrical equipment.

University of Northern Iowa’s Schindler Education Center. In December, Baker Group will complete work to transform this 146,675-square foot building into a highly efficient, LEED-certified facility. To plan and coordinate the comprehensive mechanical-HVAC-plumbing upgrade, Baker Group first worked closely with UNI to understand its specific project goals. We then conducted extensive field verification, design-assist services and building information modeling (BIM), which guided all involved MEP trades. Baker Group provided prefabrication and sheet metal services, HVAC systems and installation, and 24/7/365 service. When next semester begins, Schindler Education Center will be far more comfortable and consume substantially less energy.
