Vermeer Plant 7
The Vermeer manufacturing site was hit by a tornado and was scattered throughout the town/campus. The 500,000 square foot building was set to be rebuilt stronger than before. The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility specializing int the production of construction and agricultural equipment. The building it comprised of assembly, welding, paint, testing, and warehouse areas.
The Automation system is responsible for not only controlling HVAC heating and cooling, building pressure controls, paint systems integration for monitoring and alarming, lighting controls, gas detection and monitoring, vehicle exhaust systems.
Baker Group worked with Vermeer to create an updated facility. Baker Group was chosen based on our team and product capabilities, specifically our systems industry leading cyber security features, its open integration platform, our 24/7 service, and bench strength to produce a fully automated, air conditioned, state of the art manufacturing facility.
There were two main challenges that Baker Group faced. The integration into the paint systems packaged PLC controls for monitoring and alarming was a challenge that occurred during the process. We utilized out Industrial Automation team and leveraged their knowledge to create a seamless integration utilizing standard Commercial and Industrial communication protocols. Another Challenge was the building has extremely complex pressure controls across 5 different pressure zones and across two different buildings. Careful control and coordination of the operation of multiple systems in each area is required to maintain control.
Due to the relationship that was built prior to the rebuilding of the new plant, Baker Group was able to maintain a relationship of trust and knowledge which allowed Vermeer to call on us.
