Construction Safety at Baker Group: Built into Everything We Do

Safety is a shared responsibility and a core part of our culture. Our field teams are empowered to actively participate in safety planning, knowing they have 24/7 access to leadership and the resources needed to work safely, efficiently, and confidently. Training is available and encouraged for all employees, from interns to field staff to senior leadership. Field Foreman Summits are held to provide recognition, feedback, and communication opportunities, and weekly Toolbox Talks are utilized for purposeful discussions keeping safety top of mind.

Our safety team, field members, engineers, and BIM/VDC professionals collaborate from day one, working together to not only achieve flawless installation, but embedding safety into the project from the very first drawings — including hazard identification, proper access planning, code compliance checks, and risk mitigation strategies integrated directly into the design.

Clearly defined safety and health rules that guide our daily operations, in the office, in the shop, or on site. 

An entire internal team dedicated to safety — including full-time, on-site safety leaders — ensures every project is completed without compromise. With six OSHA Outreach Instructors providing on-site training and 24/7 access to our safety team, there’s no downtime spent leaving the jobsite. Baker Group trains not only our own team members but also general contractors and subcontractors when needed, creating a unified culture of safety across every project. Clients know they’re getting quality professionals who take ownership, follow best practices, and maintain a safe, efficient jobsite from day one.

To drive accountability and learning to prevent future risks, a transparent process is in place to report, investigate, and track all incidents and near misses.

Preventing injuries is more than a goal — it’s a proactive, continuous effort. Our robust Injury Prevention Program identifies potential hazards, implements risk mitigation strategies, and reinforces accountability at every level of the organization. To support these efforts, our Safety Incentive Program recognizes and rewards team members who consistently follow safe practices, participate in training, and contribute to a culture of safety. By combining prevention with positive reinforcement, we create an environment where everyone is motivated to work safely, anticipate risks, and protect themselves and their teammates.

Prefabrication is prioritized to enhance safety. Offsite manufacturing allows for more thoughtful planning, less jobsite congestion, and reduces high-risk tasks like working at elevation. Fewer hazards and more control create a safer, more efficient work environment.  

While the ultimate goal is preventing injury, our return-to-work program is in place to safely transition team members back to meaningful work as they recover, supporting their physical and mental well-being.
