Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden: Service that Goes Above and Beyond.

When the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden needed a trusted partner to help maintain its iconic dome and the critical systems that keep it operating year-round, they turned to Baker Group. From the 13 exhaust fans at the top of the dome to the heating systems that protect flora from around the world to the HVAC equipment supporting event spaces throughout the facility, reliable maintenance is essential to preserving one of Des Moines’ most recognizable landmarks.

Each spring, Baker Group’s Service team performs one of the Garden’s most unique maintenance projects: servicing the 13 exhaust fans located at the top of the dome. Reaching the equipment requires technicians to climb an exterior ladder to the peak of the dome, making careful planning and coordination a critical part of the project. Because weather conditions can change quickly, the team works closely with Garden staff to identify the safest service window. Technicians arrive prepared with the tools and expertise needed to complete as much work as possible during a single trip, helping minimize disruption while ensuring the dome’s ventilation system continues operating reliably for another season.

This annual maintenance reflects Baker Group’s commitment to proactive service and long-term partnerships. By combining technical expertise, detailed planning, and a safety-first approach, Baker Group helps the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden protect its facilities, support healthy growing conditions, and continue welcoming visitors year-round.
