Clive Public Safety Facility
The City of Clive set out to replace its outdated public safety building with a modernized and efficient facility that could serve both their fire and police operations while accommodating future growth. Baker Group was selected for their proven expertise and long-standing partnership with the city, providing building automation and control systems that enhance safety, energy efficiency, and operational reliability.
The building automation system (BAS) combines HVAC, lighting, and energy monitoring, which enables staff to manage the entire facility from one centralized platform. This system improves comfort and reduces energy use, ensuring consistent performance across the fire and police wings. The 44,640-sqaure-foot joint station includes specialized spaces for each department like vehicle storage, offices, training areas, and bunk rooms. These are all connected by shared fitness and locker facilities that encourage collaboration.
Baker Group’s automation team overcame several challenges, including implementing one of the city’s first SmartX controller systems, resolving vendor equipment issues, and adapting to an accelerated schedule. The project was completed in December of 2021, and the Clive Public Safety Facility now serves as a hub for fire and police services, equipped with reliable controls, energy efficiency, and the flexibility necessary to meet the community’s long-term needs.
