Daimler Trucks North America Warehouse

Baker Group provided design-build services for the world’s largest vehicle manufacturer Daimler Trucks North America’s (DTNA) new warehouse.  Located a short distance from Interstate 80, this 250,000 sq. ft. Parts Distribution Warehouse is located in Grimes, Iowa.  Since “uptime” is critical to DTNA client’s needs, this new warehouse is essential to getting the right part at the right time to their clients, and built to achieve the company’s goal of a 24-hour turnaround time on parts ordering and delivery.

As part of the electrical scope, Baker Group chose to install LED High Bay Troffers with individual occupancy sensors to provide greater control, flexibility and energy savings throughout the warehouse.

Baker Group was able to provide effective cost control programs so that when an area was unoccupied for periods of time an employee was able to safely enter the area.  Baker Group also provided panel distribution in quadrants to avoid unnecessary voltage drop. 

Being a gated/secure facility, DTNA also needed to allow local Fire Departments to access the site.  Baker Group provided the fire alarm and security systems and integrated the fire panel with the security gate panel so that it would automatically operate upon fire alarm initiation.
