Feedstock Process Improvement & Distillation Experience
Baker Group has worked with Chevron (formerly Renewable Energy Group, Inc.), on various projects since 2011. Chevron is a global producer and supplier of renewable fuels like biodiesel and renewable diesel, which significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions to immediately reduce carbon impact. Baker Group has handled multiple feedstock process improvement projects for Chevron biorefineries.
Chevron turned to Baker Group to provide maximum cost-benefit alternative feedstock options knowing that they could provide the highest quality product and set the industry standard. Baker Group installed various and complex systems to accomplish the project’s goals.
Baker Group utilized both greenfield and brownfield spaces within these projects that added front end high FFA feedstock pretreatment systems, final product distillation and overall process improvements. Our team worked with Chevron’s Engineering, Maintenance, Operations and Project Management staff to ensure the systems operated effectively and safely. Baker Group utilized its proven processes to accomplish this — 3D scanning, in-house engineering, detailing, prefabrication facilities, industrial project experienced field craft and continuous project controls.
Baker Group managed the installation of multiple columns to various facilities within Chevron’s front-end feedstock pretreatment systems. These systems were utilized to remove FFA from alternate feedstocks that Chevron now utilizes as a cost-benefit.
Baker Group designed and installed multiple systems utilizing different distillation technologies, as well as tank trim systems (venting, outflow, inflow, steam heating coils, etc.).
Our team also designed and installed the supporting utility systems for these projects. This included thermal fluid, high pressure steam (1,000 PSIG), medium pressure steam/condensate, cooling water, chilled water, brine chilled water, compressed air, nitrogen, off-gas, flare, wastewater, non-potable water, dry material handling and others.
