Protecting What Matters: Security & Access Controls at Marion Schools

Baker Group partnered with Marion Independent School District to modernize its security infrastructure, transitioning from on-premises camera and access control servers to a cloud-based solution that covers all existing facilities. The project was driven by the district’s need for improved visibility, reliability, and centralized management. Through this cloud-based platform, district staff can now securely access and monitor camera footage across all campuses in real time, creating a unified view of operations and significantly enhancing situational awareness.

Working closely with the district, the team developed a strategic plan that allowed upgrades to occur during the active school year while carefully managing downtime. By leveraging wireless door contacts and integrating them with existing equipment, the team significantly reduced material and labor costs while ensuring a seamless transition. Daily communication and proactive coordination were key to navigating scheduling constraints, as the majority of the work was completed during the school year.
