Wells Fargo West Des Moines Campus Addition
Wells Fargo continues to expand their workforce at the Jordan Creek Campus, and this addition gives them added square footage for expansion and allows them to consolidate operations on campus as leases on other rented properties expires.
Baker Group designed all the mechanical, plumbing, and control systems for this project, and completed a chiller upgrade to the central plant. Mechanical systems in the new office building matched those in the existing office buildings on campus; however, in an effort to save energy, an Energy Recovery Unit was added to the new office building to capture energy from building exhaust. Radiant floor heat was designed for the dining area in the training center/cafeteria building, to add some creature comfort in an area with two floors of glass. Low flow faucets and flush valves are used throughout the Jordan Creek complex, and the owner opted to install waterless urinals in the training center/cafeteria building. A new 1,500T centrifugal chiller was added in the central plant to provide cooling for the new buildings.
The design-build team had an approximate 20-month window to complete the project and accommodate Wells Fargo personnel moving from expiring leases in other rented properties in the area to new square footage of the Jordan Creek campus. This required a very collaborative culture between the architect and the MEP design-build partners to come up with creative solutions in a short amount of time.
Working through one of the coldest winters on record, the construction team was able to erect steel and rough-in mechanical systems before the building was enclosed.
